Join us for an evening of authentic storytelling where community members share personal narratives around the theme of "Unplugged". Whether you are looking to share your own story, hear others’, or just make some new friends, we welcome you with open arms.

About the Event

This community storytelling event creates a supportive space where participants share short true, personal stories told from memory. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to participate! Not sure what this looks like? Check out some videos from The Moth.

About the Location

Kalasataman Vapaakaupungin Olohuone is a community space in the REDI shopping center (Hermannin rantatie 5, 00580 Helsinki). It is located on the second floor at the foot of the escalators leading to the westbound metro, next to Normal.

Theme Exploration: "Unplugged"

Stories may explore moments of stepping away from the noise, disconnecting from the digital or the daily grind, and finding space to breathe. They might reflect on pulling the plug—literally or metaphorically—to rediscover what truly matters. From quiet retreats to bold rejections of the fast pace, from intimate connections made offline to unexpected clarity found in stillness, these tales celebrate the power of unplugging to reconnect with yourself, others, and the world around you.

For Storytellers

• Stories must be personal and true as you remember them
• Stories are told from memory, without notes or guides
• 5-7 minute time limit
• Materials to help you prepare are available! The organisers will meet with you beforehand to review your story.

How to Participate

Interested in telling a story? Register your interest through our Registration Form. All experience levels are welcome and space is limited to 5 storytellers.
